Arbitration Entry Course

 

Arbitration Entry Courses are offered by the Institute on a regular basis.  Successful completion of this course (including assignment - normally not more than 1,000 words) allows the delegate to apply for Associate Membership (ACIArb)of the Institute.

The course is designed for those that wish to learn more about arbitrati on and its benefits to users, anyone new to the field of arbitration who has not had legal training and wants to gain an awareness of arbitration and those that are considering further study to develop their knowldge in the field of arbitration and gain membership with the Institute.
 
The course is delivered over 1 day, and consists of a series of lectures, discussion workshops and includes a demonstration arbitration hearing which gives some candidates the opportunity of role play.  A typical course programme includes:
 
  • Introduction to Arbitration
  • Powers / Jurisdiction / Appointment of Arbitrator
  • Preliminary Meeting / Pre-Hearing Procedure / Submissions
  • Procedure at Hearing
  • Evidence
  • Costs & Interest
  • Essentials of the Award
  • Role play within workshops during the day.

R.I.P. - Past Chairman's Recent Death

The Irish Branch has learned with great sadness of the death of Mr. Dermot Roughan a previous Chairman and friend of the Institute.  Mr. Roughan had many friends and colleagues who wish to send their sympathy and condolences to his wife Angela and their four children.
